The diagrams use the free global CHELSA data set (Climatologies at high resolution for the earth’s land surface areas). For this purpose the data was resampled to a coarser resolution, at the moment the grid size is about 10 square kilometers. This data covers 1981-2010.

The diagram uses D3.js in an ObservableHQ notebook (Compare Climate Diagrams). The map is a Leaflet map, Geolocation is done by LocationIQ.

Some known issues:

  • The size of the diagrams (the integrated observable notebook cells). They should have a constant height.
